Life’s most persistent and important question is “What are you doing for others?” Dr Martin Luther King
Finding the answer to this question can make us comprehend the significance of serving humanity.
People behind Discovering New Artists (DNA), soon realized this significance, stepped out of their comfort zone and took an initiative to build up a non-profit organization in order to bring social and economic transform by educating underprivileged children of our country. They believed that every underprivileged child deserves a quality education and has a right to achieve his dreams. This non-profit organization is running successfully in Lahore under the name of DNA (Discovering New Artist) and currently sponsoring 19 underprivileged children to achieve their goals. Many others then joined hands to make this noble cause a success.
DNA comes up with many creative programs and fun filled activities frequently under the name of SHAUQ for underprivileged children studying in schools located in slum areas. These projects help in acknowledging the talent of many children and surely a motivation for many to polish up their artistic skills. Prizes and certificates are awarded in the end of the activities. DNA also provided these children with a platform under the name of HAMARI AWAAZ to raise the voices about their rights and speak about challenges faced by them on their track towards success.
DNA’s project “Sponsor a Library” also received a great response from people in September 2012 and DNA library was successfully set up in Ghani Welfare Foundation, Shahadrah. However, DNA plans to establish more libraries in future.
Great opportunities to help others seldom come but DNA has now launched a new program with the name of ART FOR CHANGE which offers a chance to all children who are studying in prestigious schools to come forward and help others by making a drawing for a cause. It is a ‘National Child Art Competition and Exhibition’ which will be held in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. Registration fee for every participating child will be Rs. 300 from private schools. The collected registration fee will be utilized for the welfare of underprivileged children. This project is launched in order to develop an urge of social responsibility of Pakistan within children along with art education. “Pakistan Tomorrow” is the theme of art competition which will question the little minds and eventually the ideas for better tomorrow will be drawn on paper. DNA’s teams from three of the cities will visit different schools and invite them to take part in this noble cause.
